I saw this on ebay for just over £10, It didn’t look too bad, but you can never tell until it arrives.

Looking at the coil, it fell off the board. Further inspection shows that all of the screws holding the coil together have rusted through. The coil itself had broken at the ends in multiple places.

The wiring has corroded and wasn’t making any connection in a number of places.

and worst of all there was only three wires coming from the coil (should be 4)

After investigation I found that the inner wire from the secondary had broken and had burnt the end of the coil.

Time for a rewind 🙁
